Editor: As a recipient of the Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award I wish to express my sincere thanks to all of the incredible individuals and sponsors who made such an event possible. What a tribute to this community and its many leaders for recognizing so many passionate and committed residents who live among us. Not only was this a very unexpected and humbling experience for me, my greatest moment was the opportunity to meet and learn about the many unsung heroes (and heroines!) that have given a lifetime of service in improving the quality of life for others.
