I would like to congratulate the 2013-14 Bulloch Academy Lady Gators basketball team on their recent state championship win in Macon. For the past several years, my husband and I have enjoyed games at the school. We went in support of our granddaughters who were cheering on the sidelines, but we came to love watching the young ladies play. In the past several years, they have fielded some very good basketball teams, but this year the team came together and with the support of coaches Paul Webb and Beth Burke, set the goal of winning a state title. They made a plan and worked as a team to accomplish that goal. On the court, they played together sharing the ball with whoever had the best shot, supporting each other when a team player was in foul trouble, but most of all being friends and on and off the court. They break the stereotype that a female can be either athletic or a pretty girl. They are both and they brought the student body, staff and faculty, parents, grandparents and community supporters to our feet last Saturday night in the Mercer University gym (awesome facility). We were all thrilled when the final buzzer sounded and we had won the title. To all those talented young women, "job well done." Be proud to be a Lady Gator. You gave us a thrilling ride this year.
