Burglars strike 6 local businesses

Burglars targeted six Statesboro businesses Monday night and Tuesday morning, police said.Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said detectives are “currently investigating multiple business burglaries,” which occurred between 7 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.“A total of six businesses are victims in these cases,” he said, adding that the names of the businesses are being pending the investigation.The burglars targeted the areas of Brannon Street, South Zetterower Avenue and Brampton Avenue, in the Market District, he said. “There was forced entry into each business, and evidence was recovered during the processing of these crime scenes,” Turner said.Detective Ben Purvis is leading the investigation. Anyone with information concerning these cases is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.Residents may also submit information to www.tipsoft.com or by texting a tip that starts with “TIPSSPD,” followed by your message, to 274637 (CRIMES).
