The following are among the food service establishments inspected in June by the Bulloch County Health Department. The department scores on a 100-percentile scale. Kitchens are inspected at least every four months and are required to post their score sheets in public. The score and selected comments from health inspectors are included in each report. June 22

  • Observed personal drinks stored near food items. Observed potentially-hazardous food items stored at above 41 degrees F. Observed unlabeled chemicals in spray bottles. If removed from original container, chemicals must be clearly labeled with common name. Observed unlabeled food items in bottles. Observed dirty cloths not stored properly. Observed food debris/buildup on counters/equipment. Observed severe buildup and food debris on floors throughout the facility. Observed light fixtures without protective shields.   • Observed chicken cold-holding with an internal temperature of 50 degrees F in a cooler with a visibly broken fan. Cooler door was also ajar. Corrected on-site; chicken was moved to walk-in to be properly cooled. Observed chicken wings with internal temperature of 108 degrees F hot-holding in a cabinet that does not properly heat. Corrected on-site; wings were reheated to 179 degrees F. Observed marinara and queso hot-holding in steam table with internal temperatures of 105, 107 and 72 degrees F. Water in steam table was only 100 degrees F and not turned up high enough.

  • Cooked foods must be cooled to 70 degrees F within two hours and from 40 to 41 degrees F within four additional hours. Foods must be fully-cooled before being taken from cooling and placing in cold-holding. Observed employee take an actively cooling pan of ribs and place on the line while there are fully-cooled ribs next to them. Cooling should be completed before placing lid on the item. Corrected on-site; ribs returned to finish cooling uncovered. Remarks: Schedule a HACCP inspection for a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in August 2026 by calling (912) 764-5969. Inspector: Jump.

  • Observed melons cold-holding with internal temperature of 56 degrees F. Melons must be cooled to 41 degrees F or below before placing in cold-holding for service. Be sure water is in ice bath and that container is not too full and is in contact with the ice bath. Corrected on-site; melons discarded. Correct by 06/30. Observed chemical spray bottles hanging on ice bin in bar. Chemicals must be labeled and stored in a location that will not contaminate food, single-use items, dishes or other food contact surfaces. Corrected on-site; chemicals moved. Observed juice and soda bottles stored in ice bin used for making drinks. Ice used for exterior cooling may not be used as an ingredient. Corrected on-site; bottles moved to ice bath and ice replaced. Inspector: Jump.

  • Observed multiple different fish products cold-holding above 41 degrees F. Potentially-hazardous foods must be held at or below 41 degrees F until cooked. Corrected on-site; out-of-temp foods discarded. Cooler underneath fish well needs service. Ice may be used as a temporary measure. Observed green beans hot-holding with internal temperature below 135 degrees F. Beans must be reheated to 165 degrees F before placing in hot-holding. The hot well must be preheated so the temperature of the foods will not drop lower than 135 degrees F. Corrected on-site; beans moved to stove to reheat properly. Observed 8- and 9-day discard dates. Ready-to-eat foods must be dated with a 7-day discard date by which the food must be consumed or discarded. The prep date counts as day one, so if something is prepped on Tuesday, June 30, its 7-day discard date is end of Monday, July 6. Corrected on-site; dates changed. Observed walk-in cooler operating with ambient temperature of 45 degrees F and prep-top cooler below fish well not operating as designed. Both coolers require service and must hold temperature below 41 degrees F. Call a licensed repair company for service and do not use coolers for potentially-hazardous items. Ice can be used on the fish items as temporary measure. Correct by 07/01. Inspector: Jump.
