Thousands of country music fans will descend upon Paulson Stadium Friday night and the Georgia Southern University Police are working with other agencies in the county to ensure a good time for everyone.
“We are working with the Statesboro Police, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s office and the Georgia State Patrol to monitor traffic and keep things running smoothly,” University Police Chief Ken Brown said. “We are preparing for lots of traffic, just like we do for football games.”
Traffic is only one concern of the officials that supervise events that draw large numbers. Finding a place to park can prove hair-raising as well, but Brown has a suggestion.
“I want to encourage people to consider parking on campus and using the buses,” Brown said. A map of pick-up and drop-off locations can be found at http://students.georgiasouthern.edu/sac/
After 5 p.m., all parking lots on campus are free and open to the public, and there is no charge to ride the bus. Shuttles will run before and after the concert.
The gates at Paulson Stadium will open at 4 p.m. with a $10 charge per car for those who wish to park and tailgate, Bill Pickett of the Office of Student Activities said. The RAC parking lots, which are within walking distance of Paulson and considered the stadium’s overflow parking, will be open as well with a $5 charge per car to park.
Prelude to Paisley
A sweet time awaits those eager Paisley fans who rush to Paulson hours early to tailgate.
Hershey’s, the sponsor of the “Bonfires and Amplifiers Tour,” will be “giving away tons of stuff” before the concert, Pickett said.
“There will be free chocolate, a Brad Paisley cutout for photos” and much more, Pickett explained.
Also, KIX 96, a local country radio station, will be on hand to distribute prizes to concert early birds as well.
But remember ...
Pickett hopes that everyone has a good time, but offers up this reminder:
“There are some thing you can’t bring in Paulson.”
The list of items that need to remain in your car include:
    - umbrellas,
    - cameras of any kind,
    - food and beverages,
    - coolers,
    - chairs, and
    - weapons.

No shortage of food, beverages

Coolers are allowed in the parking lots for tailgating purposes but must remain outside the stadium, but no need for concern.
“Concession stands will be open during the concert,” Pickett said, “and a wide variety of concert merchandise will be available.”
Among the items offered will be CDs, T-shirts and other Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram and Kellie Pickler merchandise. Cash and credit cards will be accepted by merchandise vendors, but  concession stands will accept cash only.
