4 arrested in armed robbery

A man suspected in an armed robbery Monday at The Grove apartments told police someone stole his car and committed the crime.

But evidence found through a police investigation led to his arrest, as well as the arrests of three others.

Two victims told police they were in the apartment complex parking lot around 8 p.m. Monday when "a group of males approached," Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said. "The suspects were masked, and one had a firearm."

The suspects took the victim's wallets and a Sony PlayStation 4 before leaving the area in a dark-colored vehicle, he said.

After speaking to victims and getting descriptions, Statesboro Police Officer Casey Tomlinson found the unoccupied car at The Pointe at Southern apartments and turned the case over to Detective Kevin Weatherly, who located the owner of the vehicle, Shamus Robert Goss, Turner said.

According to Statesboro police Detective Lt. Rob Bryan, Goss claimed his car had been stolen that night and he was not involved in the armed robbery. However, evidence indicated otherwise and four suspects, including Goss, were arrested, Turner said.

Goss, 19, of Statesboro Place Circle, was charged with armed robbery, giving false statements and false report of a crime.

Kadeem Dave Josiah, 21, of Statesboro Place Circle; Jeffrey Harrison Joseph, 18, of Duluth; and Jamal Winfrey, 20, of Lithonia; were each charged with armed robbery. They were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they await court hearings, according to jail records.

No injuries were reported and the case is under investigation, Turner said.
