It has been a tough season for the Portal softball team who are currently 5-10 and 1-1 in region play. One player who is helping to try and turn things around is infielder Rebie Grace Pylant

“Rebie Grace is truly a coach’s dream,” said Portal coaches Brantley Spence and Ashley Thompson. “She consistently goes above and beyond what is expected and sets a wonderful example for our younger players. She puts in the work every day to become stronger, more confident, and more well-rounded as a player.

“This season, we’ve asked her to wear many hats, both on and off the field, and she has embraced every challenge as an opportunity to grow. She is the kind of player who makes everyone around her better, including her coaches. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team.”

"I believe my role on this team is to lead with my attitude and actions,” Pylant said. “We have many young players on the team and they look up to us to know how to react. I lead by being a positive role model and lifting everyone up after wins and losses.

“Our season had a rocky start but we are finding our groove during the September games. We are continuing to grow as teammates and friends.”
