The Southeast Bulloch softball team will be looking to make their first state playoff appearance without Amy Civalier as head coach. Matthew Meeks takes over after serving as assistant coach and will be counting on his returning players like junior Halleigh Morton to help them get back to state.

“Halleigh is our Swiss Army knife,” Meeks said. “She does all things on the field well. She is hardworking, determined, and motivated to make herself and her team better every day.
She has been in our starting lineup the past two years as an outfielder so she knows what it takes to win at a high level and brings that energy to practice and games. She hit .368 as a sophomore and only committed two errors on the season as our center fielder.”

“This year my goal is to be a leader who leads by example and always put my team first,” Morton said. “Over the years, learning from upperclassmen I’ve learned that being a leader isn’t always who’s the loudest on the field but who does the little things such as hustling on and off the field, picking up my teammates, and always giving my all.
I feel like some of our biggest strengths this year are our competitiveness, coach ability and the connection we have as a team. Our coaches have helped us grow and improve and with that I think this team has a lot of potential.”
