Carl Henry Taylor

Carl Henry Taylor, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

Carl was born in Emanuel County on September 13, 1946.

He attended Swainsboro High School and Georgia Southern College.

After college, he remained in Statesboro and worked as an industrial engineer at various companies including Brooks Instrument, Cooper Wiss and Gulfstream Aerospace.

In 1993, he opened Taylor Built Products, a machine and hydraulic shop, where he was known to be able to “fix” anything.

He truly had a heart for helping others.

Carl enjoyed camping, boating, hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cardell Taylor and Velma Bishop Taylor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nan Taylor; his daughters, Leslie Shuman of Statesboro, Jill MacDonald (Jon) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Ashley Daughtry (Jason) of Statesboro; along with his six grandchildren, Noah and Peyton Shuman, Josh and Jacob MacDonald and Olivia and Wilkes Daughtry. Carl is also survived by his sister, Barbara Stokes of Swainsboro, Georgia; and brother, Larry Taylor (Debbie) of Brunswick, Georgia; his aunt, Sybil Taylor of Cedartown, Georgia; and sister-in-law, Anita Reames of Valdosta, Georgia; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 4th, from noon until 1 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jody Bryant officiating. Interment will be at Bishop Chapel Cemetery, 1404 Bishop Chapel Church Road, in Midville, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Jon MacDonald, Jason Daughtry, Noah Shuman, Josh MacDonald, Jacob MacDonald and Doug Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be close family friends, Paul Rushing, Gary Wilhelm and Johnny Vickery.
