Students and their main instructor from On Target Martial Arts in Statesboro competed recently in the Taekwondo Global Championships in Little Rock, Ark.
Led by On Target owner and Master in Taekwondo Andi Johnson, three students earned honors in six different categories, while Johnson earned two of her own.
“I am very proud of our students and their hard work,” Johnson said in an email announcing the results of the competition. “The results of the junior students are due to the diligence and support of their parents. Our adult students show up no matter what life throws at them.”
Global Championships occur in Little Rock every July. The top martial artists internationally compete for titles in events such as forms, weapons, stick sparring, traditional sparring, creative forms and creative weapons.
Championship honors:
Leonard Masters – Top 10 Champion: 1st Traditional Sparring
Emilie Bullock – Top 10 Champion: 1st Forms, 2nd Weapons/Stick Sparring, 3rd, Traditional Sparring
Brooklyn Bullock – Top 10 Champion: 3rd Weapons, 3rd Traditional Sparring
Master Andi Johnson – Top 10 Champion: 1st Weapons, 1st Stick Sparring
“Our Taekwondo program of 14 years emphasizes growth in confidence and focus,” Johnson said. “We offer bully prevention, self-defense, physical training (kickboxing) and teach life skills.”
