Police arrested a Johnson Street man Tuesday on child molestation charges after the juvenile victim's mother showed detectives a Snapchat video.
Statesboro police officers were first contacted July 29 by the child's mother, who met officers at a Mulberry Court address, said Statesboro police Capt. Jared Akins.
"The mother stated that she had been shown a Snapchat video of her daughter with an adult male," he said. "The video was lewd in nature."
The incident was apparently recorded "in the early months of 2019."
The victim's mother said she knew the man in the video as Amahd Tashoud Boykin, 19, of Johnson Street, he said.
Detectives questioned Boykin about the video with the female child, who was "middle school age," and "probable cause was developed over the course of the investigation to issue a warrant" for Boykin on child molestation charges, he said.
After being located at a Morris Street address, Boykin was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Bulloch County Jail. He remains incarcerated without bond, awaiting further court appearances, according to jail records.
