Driver falls asleep, strikes utility pole
Statesboro Police Department patch

A man fell asleep at the wheel Wednesday morning, lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole on Northside Drive West, according to Statesboro police reports.

Around 4 a.m., William Cody Taylor, age unavailable, of Kingston Court in Millen, was traveling on Northside Drive East just past Williams Road when he fell asleep and lost control of his 2003 Ford Super Duty pickup, which was pulling a trailer carrying a 2011 BMW. His truck struck a Georgia Power pole, reports stated.

The portion of Northside Drive West between MLK Drive and Williams Road was closed for a couple of hours until the wreckage could be cleared and the pole replaced. EMS was notified but the driver was not transported, according to reports.
