In an effort to reduce the amount of dangerous elements found in electronic equipment making its way to landfills, Keep Bulloch Beautiful will be hosting an electronics recycling event on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30.

“We want to provide an easy and convenient way for Bulloch County residents to dispose of their old electronic equipment in an environmentally sound way,” said Brooke Carney, director of Keep Bulloch Beautiful.

Residents will be able to bring their unwanted or non-working electronics to the front parking lot of the Statesboro Mall on June 29 from Noon until 4 p.m. and on Saturday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Carney hopes to collect more than 20,000 pounds of electronics to be recycled.

“Many people in the area are unaware of the hazardous effects that electronic waste has on our environment and what they can do to help prevent it,” said Carney. “With our upcoming electronics recycling event, KBB hope to spread awareness and knowledge about this issue.”

Businesses and non-profit organizations who can’t make it to the mall can schedule a pickup during the time of the event.

For more information or to schedule a pickup, contact Jessica L. Powers at (912) 764-6147 or email at kbb@keepbullochbeautiful.org.
