An undercover agent working with the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Tuesday bought cocaine from two men in the College Plaza parking lot. Seconds later, drug team investigators surrounded the suspects and placed them under arrest.
Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the undercover agent met with Timothy Crawford, 28, Eastview Apartments, and Christopher Edenfield, 32, Sunnydale Drive, Lakeland, Fla., for an arranged purchase of crack cocaine, said Bulloch County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Rountree, who is also commander of the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team.
The sting came after a month-long investigation where drug team members gathered evidence and information before setting up the arranged purchase, he said.
Witnesses watched as the drug agents swarmed the suspects behind Wendy’s restaurant Tuesday. Crawford and Edenfield were taken into custody immediately and were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, he said.
Crawford was charged with two counts of sale of cocaine as well as a parole violation. Edenfield was charged with one count of sale of cocaine.
According to information from the Georgia Department of Corrections, Crawford was out on parole after several previous drug charges, including sale/distribution of marijuana in Decatur County in 2008, and sale/distribution of marijuana in Bulloch County in 2005.
Edenfield remained in the Bulloch County Jail Wednesday on a $5,000 bond. Crawford has no bond, due to the parole violation, according to jail records.
