The Bulloch County Board of Education will hold a brief public ceremony for swearing in four members at 6 p.m. Thursday in the BOE office on Williams Road and then convene the 2019 organizational meeting at 6:30.

Only District 4 member-elect April C. Newkirk, elected last May, is new to the board. But District 2 member Mike Sparks, District 5 member Glennera Martin and District 6 member Jimmy “Jay” Cook Jr. successfully stood for re-election and will be sworn-in for new four-year terms.

The first items on the 6:30 p.m. agenda are the board’s election of its chair and vice chair for the year from among the eight members. Then the board chooses its regular meeting times, dates and places – if there will be any other than the board office – for the remainder of 2019.

Other business of the school system will follow, including any reports from the superintendent and board members.
