    About 1,000 Statesboro voters came out to the polls Tuesday to decide council races in Districts 2, 3 and 5 The polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed shortly after 7 p.m. when the final ballots were cast.

A steady stream of voters went through the Statesboro Senior Citizens Center in the Parks and Rec Building off Fair Road all day. The polls for District 2 - incumbent Gary Lewis vs. challenger Nathan Queen - and District 3 - incumbent Will Britt vs. challenger Harry Propes -- are both at the Senior Center. The District 5 poll at the William James Education Complex also was busy Tuesday in the race between challenger Travis Chance and incumbent John Morris.
