A Statesboro man is listed in stable condition after being stabbed multiple times Thursday afternoon. Police hope citizens will help identify and locate the offender.
Statesboro Police responded to a 911 call Thursday around 12:45 p.m. to Morris Heights Apartments, where they found Colby Tyrone Barner, 26, of an undetermined Statesboro address, suffering from “several stab wounds to the upper torso,” said Statesboro Police Major Scott Brunson.
Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said the aggravated assault took place in Building 8 of the apartment complex of Morris Street.
It is unknown at this time what type of weapon was used in the stabbing, Brunson said.
Barner was first treated at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after being transported there by Bulloch County EMS, but then was airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Turner said.
Statesboro Police Det. Ben Purvis is investigating the case.
Brunson said Barner did not live at Morris Heights and the stabbing stemmed from a fight. However, at Herald press time, no further details were available as detectives continued to work on the case.
“The offender in this case is unknown, and the case remains under investigation,” Turner said.
Anyone with any information in encouraged to contact Det. Ben Purvis at (912) 764-9911 or submit tips online at www.tipsoftonline.com . All calls or emails will remain confidential, he said.
