Gators set to host region tournament

    Both Bulloch Academy basketball teams hold the top seeds headed into this week’s GISA Region 2-AAA basketball tournament.
    Girls’ and boys’ play-in games will be held today in Bulloch Academy’s gym. In the girls’ action, Frederica takes on Edmund Burke at 5 p.m. and the Pinewood boys battle Edmund Burke at 6:30 p.m.
    Admission, as per the GISA, is $8 for adults and $5 for students (K-12). No BA booster passes will be allowed. Only GISA and GAOA passes will be honored and must be presented at the pass gate at the time of entry.
    Four games are scheduled for both Thursday and Friday.
    On Thursday, the Pinewood girls face Trinity Christian at 4 p.m. and the Frederica boys tangle with Trinity Christian at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Gators (22-4, 6-2) play the winner of Tuesday’s FA-EBA game at 7 p.m. and the Gators (17-8, 7-1) match up with the winner of the PCA-EBA game at 8:30 p.m.
    On Friday, the girls’ consolation game is at 4 p.m. and the boys’ consolation game is 5:30 p.m. The girls’ region championship game is at 7 p.m. and the boys’ title tilt is at 8:30 p.m.
    The first round of the state tournament will be hosted by the region champion on Tuesday, Feb. 24 while the second round will be on Friday, Feb. 27 at an undetermined location.
