When it comes to the Bulloch Academy softball team, Taylor Collins is in the middle of it all.
In the field, the Lady Gator pitching staff depends on the senior catcher to call a good game from her post behind the plate. Last Saturday, Collins showed her ability to make an offensive impact as well.
Collins ripped a two-run home run that proved to be all Bulloch Academy needed in a 2-1 win over Piedmont Academy. Later in the day, the Gators trailed Brentwood in the final inning, but Collins doubled to set up the game-winning rally and scored the winning run in a 5-4 victory.
“I’m glad that everything is coming around for me at the plate,” said Collins. “Early in the season, I wasn’t hitting as well. I’m glad that things are coming around now.”
With the Region 4-AAA title already clinched, Collins and the Gators are now looking forward to the state playoffs.
“I think that we play our best against tough teams,” said Collins. “We’ve got a very good team this season and if we keep playing well, we’ve got a good shot to go pretty far.”
