Georgia Southern's women’s tennis team recently was named as an ITA All-Academic Team by excelling in the classroom. Seven Eagles picked up ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2011-12 season.
“It is a great honor to earn All-Academic Team honors this year,” GSU head coach Amy Bonner said. “Our team worked very hard both on the court and in the classroom. I’m very proud of the team’s work this season to earn these honors.”
The seven Eagles who earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors are Alessandra Dzuba, Alexandra Langmo, Mary Prickett, Natalie Maffett, Paola Garrido, Sara Kitchen and Sydney Brown. To earn scholar-athlete status, athletes must earn a varsity letter, have at least a 3.50 grade-point average, and have been enrolled at their current school for more than two semesters.
