A woman was killed Thursday when she lost control of her vehicle on Interstate 16 near the 136 mile marker.

Tiffany Renee Broughan, 21, of Brittany Lane in Guyton, was traveling on the interstate with passengers Jamie Lee Medlin, 25, of Jay Rimes Road in Claxton, a 2-year-old and an 11-month-old, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.

Around 6 p.m., Boughan braked suddenly and overcorrected as she approached another vehicle, according to witness reports. She left the westbound left lane, entered the median, crossed the eastbound lane and entered the north shoulder, where she overturned several times, reports stated.

Both Broughan and Medlin were ejected, but the children were properly restrained and were uninjured, though they were transported to the hospital for observation, according to reports.

Medlin was airlifted to a Savannah hospital, while Broughan was pronounced dead at the scene, reports said.
