A fatal crash Wednesday took the life of a Portal woman and injured a second driver, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper 1st Class Hunter Oglesby.

Around 12:40 p.m., Brenda Kitchens, of Cowboy Way, was driving east on Banks Dairy Road, approaching Portal-Metter Highway, when she pulled into the path of Brandy Horton, of Meridy Road in Metter, he said.

Horton, 34, driving a 2001 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and traveling south, struck Kitchens' 1998 Ford Taurus, he said.

Kitchens, 69, died at the scene.

Oglesby said speed "is not considered to be a factor" in the crash, and no charges were filed.
