Statesboro police collect suspended alcohol licenses from businesses

The Statesboro Police department has collected the alcohol licenses for those businesses who had their license suspended or revoked at the August 16th Alcohol Control Board meeting.
A city official stated that an officer picked up licenses for Harvey's on Highway 80 and the Time Saver on Highway 301 N. Both licenses were suspended for 30 days after they were cited for selling alcohol to an underage purchaser during a city-wide compliance check in May.
It was their second offense in a 24-month period.
Officers also picked up the license for the Orient Express, which operated the Woodin Nikel. Their license was revoked due to multiple violations of the city alcohol ordinance - more specifically, giving out free shots to patrons.
None of the license holders are expected to appeal their sentences.
