A Statesboro High School teacher was selected recently to serve as president of the Georgia Business Education Association for 2027–28.
According to a release from Hayley Greene, director of Public Relations for the Bulloch County schools district, Melissa Anderson, a Workforce Ready teacher at Statesboro High, has been an active member of the Association for 10 years. Its membership chose her to lead the state organization, and in preparation for the leadership role, she will serve as president-elect during the 2026-2027 school year. She previously served as the organization's public relations officer and has been a frequent presenter at its conferences and events.
Anderson is an educator with 21 years of teaching experience, all at Statesboro High. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree in Adult and Career Education from Valdosta State University.
For 18 years, she taught Business & Finance courses in SHS's Financial Services career pathway. She has brought many concepts and real-world applications from her career into her current role teaching Workforce Ready skills.
Anderson said she enjoys presenting in a variety of settings and creating practical, engaging resources for both students and educators. She said she is always looking for opportunities to share ideas, connect with other educators and use her experiences to help others find new ways to engage and prepare their students for success.
She also serves as the faculty advisor for Statesboro's student chapter of the National Technical Honor Society.
The Georgia Business Education Association is an affiliate of the Georgia Association for Career & Technical Education, the national Association for Career & Technical Education, the National Business Education Association and the Southern Business Education Association. Its member teachers network to gain ideas and techniques to utilize in their classrooms and participate in professional development at the local, state and national levels.
