The Technical College System of Georgia recently announced graduate placement rates for colleges within their system.  With 34 technical colleges and four Board of Regents colleges with technical divisions reporting, there was an average in-field placement rate of 86.5 percent.  Total placement rate, for graduates employed in-field or in a profession other than that from which they graduated, was 98.5 percent.                            Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro achieved a 95.5 percent  in-field placement rate, with a 99.7 percent overall placement rate – a considerable improvement over the state average for in-field placement.

The in-field placement percentage at Ogeechee Tech qualified the school as the leader in the state for in-field job placement, with no other technical college or division topping Ogeechee Tech’s percentage.  For total placement rate, Ogeechee Tech tied for the third highest overall placement rate in the state system.

In discussing the placement rates of the college, Ogeechee Tech president Dr. Dawn Cartee said:

“We are very happy to know that our employment placement rates are not only strong, but some of the best in the state.  It speaks well of our college, our instructors, and especially our students to know that the quality of our graduates results in such a high percentage of job placement, which is after all the ultimate goal of gaining an education.  In-field placement does not just randomly happen. These results are the result of industry guided training with the input of our advisory committees, hands-on experience in campus and off-site training exercises guided by our instructors and preceptors, and strong relationships with the business community which builds a foundation of trust in our college and our graduates.”

Ogeechee Tech tracks graduate placement, and maintains an office of Career Placement and Development to assist graduates in locating employment following graduation.  For more information about job placement, or any aspect of Ogeechee Technical College’s programs, visit www.ogeecheetech.edu.
