A five-year-old boy missing for about an hour and a half Saturday afternoon was found safely near his home.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said the child wandered off from his home in Carrington Subdivision off Ga. 67 Saturday sometime around 11 a.m.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the parent’s call for help in finding their son, and while deputies searched the area, calls were made to the Reidsville State Prison K9 unit, and local pilots prepared for a helicopter search.
However, a deputy radioed others around 12:34 p.m. Saturday, notifying searchers the child had been located at a residence near the subdivision and was not harmed.
Upon receiving the radio call, other deputies escorted the boy’s father to the spot where he was found, and they were reunited, according to information overheard via police scanner.
“The child is fine,” said Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn.
Anderson said the boy was playing in a neighborhood yard when found and had never wandered into the woods.
“It’s always good when it turns out like this,” he said.
