Woman sentenced to none years probation for animal cruelty
Bulloch County State Court Judge Gary Mikell sentenced a woman charged  last year with animal cruelty to probation, community service and a fine, said Bulloch County Humane Enforcement Officer Joey Sanders.
Accepting a plea bargain, Mikell sentenced Katherine Sixtos-Villalva, 32, Ga. 67, to nine years probation during which she cannot be in contact with any animals, community service and a $450 fine plus state add-ons, he said.
Sixtos-Villalva was charged after officials from the Georgia Department of Agriculture Animal Protection Division and Bulloch County Humane Enforcement officers found at least 10 dogs and a Shetland pony in various states of poor health and starvation at her home. State officials pulled her kennel license after finding the animals in distress. Some dogs were adopted but others were euthanized due to ill health.
The pony, which was at one time found  tied in the sun to a child’s motorized  toy, had been given away before it could be seized, according to reports.
