The Bulloch County commissioners are holding a town hall at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, in the Randy Newman Community Building, 209 Railroad St., Brooklet. An ongoing update of the county’s hazard mitigation plan will be one featured topic.

Commissioner Nick Newkirk is slated to give the invocation and lead the pledge after Chairman David Bennett calls the meeting to order.

But Corey Kemp, the county’s Emergency Management Agency director, will provide a presentation and invite discussion about the Bulloch County Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

“A portion of the meeting is to engage county residents in the planning process, to provide insight into hazard risks and vulnerabilities within the county, how the county and its municipalities plan to mitigate hazards, and to seek your input into the results of the draft plan,” the agenda states.

Like the commissioners’ other townhall meetings at different locations in the county, this one can also provide a public form for informal conversations between citizens and county officials on other topics of concern.
