Dr. and Mrs. David Hood of Tifton, Georgia, and Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Gibson of Statesboro joyfully announce the engagement of their children, Dr. Katelyn Elizabeth Hood to Dr. William Hampton Gibson.

Katelyn graduated from Tift County High School with honors. She attended the University of Georgia, where she completed her pre-pharmacy curriculum, and earned the doctorate of pharmacy degree, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to complete a general pharmacy residency at Augusta University Medical Center and a specialized pediatric pharmacy residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Katelyn is currently a neonatal intensive care unit clinical pharmacy specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta.

Katelyn is the granddaughter of Mrs. Myrna Hood of Statesboro, the late Dr. James Hood and the late Julian and Elizabeth Savelle of Ochlocknee.

Will graduated from Statesboro High School with honors and attended Clemson University, where he earned a B.S. in biology degree with cum laude honors. He received the doctorate of pharmacy degree, cum laude, from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, where he was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Currently, Will is a pharmacist with the CVS Pharmacy in Martinez, Georgia.

Will is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Fenton Powell of Sylvania and the late Dr. and Mrs. Woodrow Hampton Gibson of Sylvania.

The couple plans to wed on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Old Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
