HONOLULU — Defending champion Jimmy Walker one-putted his last 11 holes Saturday on his way to an 8-under 62 and a two-shot lead in the Sony Open.
Walker putted like he did on Sunday last year at Waialae. That gave him a victory. This only gave him a chance to become the first player since Ernie Els in 2004 to successfully defend at the Sony Open.
With his 16th consecutive round in the 60s in Hawaii, Walker was at 16-under 194.
Matt Kuchar birdied two of his last three holes for a 68 and was two shots behind.
Walker had a share of the lead going into the final round at Kapalua last week in the Tournament of Champions and lost in a playoff.

Report: Allenby beaten, robbed
HONOLULU — Golf Channel is reporting that Robert Allenby of Australia was robbed, beaten and dumped in a park after missing the cut in the Sony Open.
The network showed a photo Allenby took of his face bloodied and swollen.
A Honolulu police spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking confirmation. A phone call to Allenby went straight to voice mail.
Fellow Australian player Stuart Appleby says he spoke to Allenby in his hotel room Saturday morning and that Allenby was trying to reconstruct what happened.
According to the Golf Channel report, Allenby's caddie said they were in a wine bar Friday night. He says Allenby was beaten, driven some six miles away and dumped in a park. He was found by a retired military man who helped him back to his hotel.
