BOGART, Ga. — North Oconee won Game One of Tuesday’s scheduled doubleheader in the quarterfinals of the GHSA Class AA state playoffs on Tuesday, 6-3. The nightcap, however, was postponed due to rain. The two teams will resume the series today with the winner advancing to the Fial Four.
Jack Frankhouser held the Titans to just four hits, but all four cleared the fence for home runs.
North jumped out to a 1-0 lead early, but Screven scored twice in the third. Frankhouser reached on an error and Walker Stuart singled. Derick Johnson brought both of them in with a single of his own to give SCHS a 2-1 lead.
The Titans countered with three in the third on a two-run shot and a solo blast. They would add a two-run bomb in the fourth as well.
Garrett Bates hit his first jack of the year to give the Gamecocks their third and final run. Frankhouser pitched a complete game, striking out nine, walking and hitting two batters.
