SEB goes for region title
SEB

Southeast Bulloch has a chance to clinch a region title and a No. 1 seed in the state playoffs as it travels to Bleckley County this afternoon to begin a best-of-three series.

Sierra Peebles — who pitched a pair of complete games in the Lady Yellow Jackets’ series win over Dodge County last weekend — will again be the go-to arm on the mound as SEB tries to take home a region title.

"Sierra was big for us last weekend," said SEB coach Aimee Civalier. "I think that she knows when to step up her game. We’ll be depending on her to do that again."

SEB and Bleckley each finished as sub-region champions. Both teams swept their Region 3-AA semifinal series last weekend, but the Lady Royals won a coin toss and the right to host the region championship series.

Screven takes on Dodge County

Deprived of a sub-region title by SEB’s win in the last region game of the season, Screven County won its play-in battle vs. East Laurens, but was swept by Bleckley in the region semifinals.

Today, the Lady Gamecocks travel to Eastman to take on Dodge County for the No. 3 seed out of Region 3-AA.

"Dodge is returning most of their team from last season," said SCHS coach Billy Pollock. "We have a good idea of what we’re facing, but we need to go out there and play some solid games."

Bryan wins region title

Bryan County addeed to an already stellar year on the softball diamond by notching a pair of wins Tuesday to clinch the Region 3-A championship.

The Lady Redskins beat Johnson County 4-0 in the semifinals before taking down Calvary Day in a 9-2 decision to clinch the title.

Bryan (26-7, 13-1 Region 3-A) was led — as always — by ace pitcher Tiffany Howard.

The hard-throwing senior pitched her third no-hitter of the season and racked up 17 strikeouts against Johnson County, then pitched another gem to earn the win in the title game.
