The Screven County Lady Gamecocks (22-3) advanced to the semifinals of the GHSA Class AA state tennis playoffs Monday with a 4-1 win over fellow No. 2 seed Berrien.
    Evan Blackburn and Sophia Evans were paired in doubles for the first time, winning the first set 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker and sealing the win in the second set, 6-2.
    Other winners were Sydnee Weaver (6-1, 6-0), Kelsey Forehand (6-2, 7-5) and doubles team Lauren Bazemore and Lauren Thomas (6-0, 6-3).
    The Lady Gamecocks will play Westminster for a trip to the state championship match when they face  Westminster Saturday at the Clayton County International Tennis Park.
