Local Roundup: SCHS maintains perfect record with win over Swainsboro

    SYLVANIA — Screven County is now 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in 3-AA play after a 28-22 win over Swainsboro.
    The Gamecocks scored on the very first play of the game when Jeremy Hawkins returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.
    Late in the second quarter, SCHS freshman CJ Wright (9 carries, 106 yards) scored from 38 yards out, sending the Gamecocks with a 14-8 lead into the half.
    Screven added its final two scores in the third quarter, first when Donta Wilburn's 20-yard pass  found Brandon Whatley in the end zone and again on a 14-yard run by Malik Prescott (8 carries, 55 yards).
    Caleb Krulic also had a big night, carrying the ball 9 times for 48 yards.
    The Gamecocks have a week off before traveling to Dublin.
