Local Roundup: Harlem knocks off Screven County

    HARLEM, Ga. — The Screven County Lady Gamecocks (5-9, 2-1 Region 3-AA) fell 10-6 on the Road Thursday at Harlem.
    In the third inning, Harlem exploded for eight runs on eight hits.
    The Gamecocks spread the scoring through five different innings.
    Dawn Stewart doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs, Rebekah Woods crossed the plate three times and Jancy Durrence recorded a pair of hits in the game.
    Screven returns to action Monday on the road at Swainsboro.

Peebles Ks 10 in SEB win
    SAVANNAH — Sierra Peebles struck out 10 and went 4-for-4 at the plate as the Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets (7-3, 3-0 Region 1-AAA) beat Islands, 11-2, Thursday on the road.
    Effie Manahan and Mary Grace Manahan had identical stat lines as they each went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
    Leah McCarthy tripled and drove in a run, finishing 3-for-4 on the night, and Storm Williams =scored and went 2-for-4.

SEB JV blanks Claxton
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch junior varsity Yellow Jacketsran away from the Claxton JV Tigers Thursday night.
    Ryan Rourks, Ryan McBride and Mike Davis each scored a rushing touchdown, and Davis also returned a punt for six.
    Justin Odum caught a touchdown pass from Jaylen Webb, and Isaiah Francis returned an interception for a score.
    SEB will play a double header with Johnson (Savannah) Tuesday to make up n Aug. 23 rain out.
