Local roundup: BA one-hits Trinity Christian

    Mikay Sands hurled a one-hitter and the Lady Gators played error-free defense as Bulloch Academy defeated Trinity Christian School 3-0 in GISA Region 2-AAA action Tuesday. 
    Sands struck out five and walked two in the complete-game shutout. Trinity's only hit came with two outs in the top of the first. Sydney Bozeman dribbled a soft grounder on the infield to reach safely, but the inning ended on the next pitch with a groundout.
    BA (6-4 overall and 2-0 in the region) scored one in the bottom of the first on a single by Ashley Burke that plated Kristin Kingery, who had earlier reached on a dropped third strike and stole second.
    The Lady Gators plated two more in the third.
    Page Spence started the inning with her second bunt single of the game. Following an out and a hit batter, Powell Fennel placed a perfect bunt single down that loaded the bases. Kendra Houghton walked on five pitches to score a run then Hannah Dasher hit a sacrifice fly to left to drive in the run of the game.
    Bulloch hosts region foe Pinewood Thursday.
