Crystal Dowell has the Southeast Bulloch girls soccer team right in the thick of the region race.
Dowell racked up a hat trick in a 10-0 pasting of Emanuel County Institute Monday evening and scored the Lady Yellow Jackets’ only goal in a tough 2-1 loss to Screven County Tuesday that needed two overtimes and penalty kicks to finally be decided.
After being on the wrong side of a 10-0 score last week against St. Vincent’s Academy, SEB’s senior forward wanted to make sure that the Jackets wouldn’t be down for long.
“It was good to see the offense work so well,” said Dowell. “It gives us a lot of confidence to know that we can move the ball well and put it in the net.”
Having already scored two in the first half, Dowell put up goal number 10 – bringing the game to an end via the mercy rule – by blasting a cross into the back of the net.
“That’s exactly the kind of thing that we’ve been looking for,” said SEB coach Aimee Civalier. “We got a great cross on the play and Crystal was there to score off of one touch. Executing like that shows the improvements we’ve been looking for.”
