GSU planning for Paulson addition

    Georgia Southern hopes to have a new addition to Paulson Stadium by the 2012 football season.
    Plans are in the works for a 50,000 square-foot facility where the scoreboard currently resides at the east end of the stadium facing Lanier Drive and opposite the Bishop Field House.
    According to a web page at services.georgiasouthern.edu, the facility will house football team operations and a welcoming and exhibit area.
    The two-story building will hold football team operation and have direct access to the field on the lower floor.
    The upper floor will have direct access from Lanier Drive and contain coaches offices, a players' lounge and team meeting rooms, in addition to a main lobby containing a Hall of Fame.
    The web page contains a monthly progress update, indicating 50 percent completion of the schematic design as of March 2011.
    Under the subhead "Near Term Expected Work", the site reports that schematic design will be completed and Design Development phase will be 50 percent complete.
    The projected starting date for construction is October,2011 and the projected completion date is August 2012.
    According to GSU officials, the project is reportedly pending approval of schematic design and funding by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
