Alexis Sams was thrown to the wolves as a freshman during the 2012-13 season for the Georgia Southern women’s basketball program. Though the Eagles lost their season opener on the road at Auburn on Saturday, 69-59, it was apparent how far the sophomore point guard has come. “She has been tremendous in the preseason for us and she was really, really solid against Auburn,” second-year GSU coach Chris Vozab said.
