Georgia Southern secondary looks to have a logjam

Georgia Southern cornerback Darrius White, right, a junior college transfer from Texas, picks off a pass intended for receiver B.J. Johnson on the first day of fall practice on Thursday.
Every coach at the Sun Belt Football Media Day last week in New Orleans said pretty much the same thing about winning in the conference — you need a good quarterback and a good defense. In Georgia Southern’s defensive secondary, the transfer of junior-college cornerbacks Darius White and Caleb Williams has made the Eagles look almost spoiled. “We were pretty good (in the secondary) in 2012 when we had J.J. Wilcox and Darius Eubanks, but the depth wasn’t there,” GSU defensive coordinator Jack Curtis said.
