Eagles drop opener at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A five-run first inning lifted the Davidson Wildcats to a 5-2 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles in the Southern Conference series opener at Wilson Field. An error by the third baseman Garrett Chapman extended the bottom of the first for Davidson (15-7, 6-1), who went on to score five unearned runs in the frame on four hits. Lee Miller capped off the inning with a two-RBI single to right field.
