One of the most decorated collegiate golfers to come out of Georgia Southern University, Steven Fisk recently earned his PGA Tour card after finishing fourth on the Korn Ferry Tour this year. Sunday Fisk wrapped up his first PGA Tour event as he tied for 49th and got his first taste of what playing four rounds in a PGA Tour event is like.

Fisk struggled a bit out of the gate with an opening round 72, but turned things around with a round of 65 on Friday advancing to the weekend. Saturday saw another solid round of 67 including a back-nine 32, which put him tied for 12th entering Sunday’s final round. A 73 to wrap things up wasn’t what Fisk was looking for but afterwards he felt he learned a lot from his first PGA Tour experience.

“It was nice to play well on Friday and work myself within the cut line,” Fisk said. “I was able to put myself in contention with some putts, and kind of did much the same on Saturday. It sucks to have not played well today but if you had offered me this opportunity January first I would have been very happy with it.”

Earlier this year about an hour up the coast from St. Simons, Fisk shot up the Korn Ferry Tour ranks with a win at the Club Car Championship at The Landings in Savannah. He would go on to have four top-five finishes in his next seven starts and secured his PGA tour card for the 2025 season.

“Securing my PGA Tour care was pretty surreal,” Fisk said. “It is always something you are trying to attain and it kind of feels far fetched at times. I’ve always tried to just stay lost in the process and go about my business the right way and see how good I can be.”

Fisk treasures his time spent as an Eagle and the Georgia Southern logo is displayed prominently on his bag. There were quite a few Georgia Southern supporters flowing Fisk throughout the tournament and that is something he really appreciates.

“Any time I can come play close to home and have people to support me it means the world to me,” Fisk says. “To have people following me after all these years is pretty special.”

Fisk is happy to now have some time off to spend with his wife Edith as they will be able to be together over the holidays, but is excited about getting the season underway in January.

“It will be really nice to have some down time,” Fisk said. “We will get some time for a change at home and to just get some rest. Any time the two of us can be together is a good time, but sometimes it is nice to just get away from the golf course. I think she was even more excited than me when I got my card. I think people who are following along and watching can have a little more reaction to it. I am so used to grinding week-to-week and you just get lost in that process.”

Fisk will have full-time status on the 2025 PGA Tour and will kick things off at the Sony Open in Honolulu Hawaii January 9-12.
