Claxton's Delvin Diggs carried the ball 41 times for 249 yards and four touchdowns in Friday night's win over Jenkins County.
Some players get tired as a game develops, while others seem to grow stronger.
Without a doubt, running back Delvin Diggs falls into the latter category.
“One of the biggest things about him is he’s very durable, as you can see by the number of carries,” said Claxton coach Allen Cartwright.
“He never gets tired, never shows any signs of wear.  He’s just one of those unique players that can handle it.”
In Friday’s win over Jenkins County, Diggs carried 41 times on the way to 249 yards and four touchdowns.
“He’s kind of the complete package,” Cartwright said. “He’s got excellent speed (4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash), but he’s also powerful. He’s able to run between tackes and otuside.”
As good as the 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior is on the field, his coach said he might be more valuable in the lockerroom.
Diggs carries a 4.0 grade point average and is typically “the first to practice and the last one to leave.”
A coach of 13 seasons, Cartwright said Diggs truly was  a “special kid.”
