FLORENCE, Ala. -- Yvonne Hooks Chester, age 82, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Florence, Alabama, under the care of hospice. She was born January 31, 1936, in Jenkins County, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Albert Jerry and Mamie Bell "Muddy" Parham Hooks.
Mrs. Chester was an Air Force wife for 26 years. She lived most of the past 40+ years in Prattville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade F. Chester; brothers, Ronald, Tommy and Jerry Hooks; and one sister, Edith Willis.
Surviving are two sons, Randy (Cindy) Chester of Florence, Alabama; and Tony Chester of Prattville, Alabama; grandchildren, Casey (Josh) Wilburn and Ben (Hannah) Chester, all of Florence, Alabama; Brent (Samantha) Chester and Robby Chester, all of Prattville, Alabama; seven great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister-in-law, W.A. (Margaret) Hooks of Jenkins County, Georgia; and Samuel Hooks of Twin City, Georgia; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Memorial Baptist Church, 1320 Old Ridge Road, Prattville, AL 36066.
