Obituary - Alan Stephen Minkovitz
Citrus Grove Affordable Cremation
Alan Stephen Minkovitz

Alan Stephen Minkovitz, 76, passed away on October 10, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on September 7, 1950, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Elizabeth DeLoach Minkovitz and Ike Minkovitz, Alan grew up with open fields outside of town. The family had a horse named Calloway, two ponies named Vixen and Blitzen, and many pet dogs.

He graduated from Statesboro High School and attended Young Harris College.

He spent many years working alongside family members at the family department store, H. Minkovitz & Sons. Working as a painter in later years, he took pride in the projects he worked on across St. Simons Island, Georgia, and in Tampa, Florida.

Alan added fun and a laugh to every room he entered; he had a zest for life that drew people in. He loved music, and sang while he played guitar, often with original chords and words. He loved being on Tybee Island with boiled peanuts and watermelon in hand, and nearly everyone he knew was happy to share those days with him. Alan was proud of his daughters and grandson and he treasured every moment he had with them.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Kay Minkovitz Beynart and Donna Minkovitz Darracott.

He is survived by his brother, David Arden Minkovitz; his daughters, Hannah Minkovitz (Ginger Hahn) and Malana Minkovitz Baldwin (Nik Baldwin); his grandson, Milo Bash Minkovitz Baldwin; his former wife, Joan Sharon Stafford; and loving nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan's memory to Freedom Through Recovery: Susan Ford Recovery Community Organization in Statesboro.

May his memory be a blessing.
