STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Mamie Sue Gerrald Burroughs, age 75, was set free from the bonds of Alzheimer’s on July 15, 2018, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Surrounded by her loving family, she entered into her heavenly father’s arms and was welcomed at heaven’s gates by family and friends happily awaiting her homecoming.
    Sue was born on March 15, 1943, in Bulloch County, where she resided most of her life.
    She was a member of Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church in Screven County, where she served as church secretary.
    Sue was in management at Lakeside Café at Georgia Southern University for several years and later years at Harvey’s in Sylvania, Georgia.
    Sue loved spending time with her family and had a passion for cooking, fishing, music, antiques and traveling.
    She was greeted in heaven by her adoring father and mother, Frank Olin and Edel Kitchings Gerrald; brothers, Derrell Gerrald and the Rev. Inman Gerrald; and a sister, Frances Gerrald Smith; sisters-in-law, Telmalee Gerrald and Myrtis Gerrald; brothers-in-law, Waldo (Shorty) Smith, Remer Lanier, Bobby Phillips and Arden Deloach. Also her “Big Pa” and “Big Ma”, Joseph Tillman and Lalie Chester Kitchings. Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack W. Phillips and by special nieces and nephews.
    She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, C.W. Billy Burroughs; her son and daughter-in-law, Ray Phillips and Sonya Phillips; and her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Phillips Anderson and Ronnie Anderson, all of Statesboro, Georgia.
    “Mema” adored her grandchildren, Heather (Blake) Deal, Phillip (Amber) Blackburn, Lindsey Phillips, Will (Kaitlin) Phillips, Misty (Sean) Santiago, Mindy (Mitchell) Davis and Ryan Anderson; and her great-grandchildren, Reese Phillips, Eliza Gillis, Lalie, Caroline, and Blakelyn Deal, Kennedy, Avery Kate and Mattie Blackburn, Maddux and Madelyn Davis and Lucas Santiago. She is also survived by sisters, Venie Lanier of Savannah, Eloise Phillips and Peggy Deloach of Statesboro; along with several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro, Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
    The funeral service will be Wednesday July 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro with the Rev. Janet Odegaard officiating. Interment will be in the Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Screven County.
    Pallbearers will be nephews, Ronnie Gerrald, Keith Oglesby, Clint Oglesby, Emory Lanier, Gerrald Smith, Billy Phillips, Johnny Phillips, Al Creasy, Jarrod Mallard and Brad Miller.
    Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Rockin Out Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, 1100 Beaumont Drive, Statesboro, GA 30458; Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O.
