Statesboro, Ga. — Mrs. Eloise Tucker Brannen, age 87, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro. Eloise was born in Bulloch County, the daughter of Susie Scott Tucker and Eddie Frank Tucker. She graduated from Brooklet High School in 1946. In 1949 she married George Brannen, and they made Statesboro their home.
Eloise began her career working for Charlie Joe Mathews at Statesboro Telephone Company, and in 1961, she began working for Brooks Instrument, retiring in 1986 as a receptionist and switchboard operator.
She was a longtime member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mina Franklin Circle.
Eloise’s greatest love was her family; she loved all unconditionally, from her children to her great-grand nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed many hours of playing cards, from multiple card groups and her Hand & Foot group.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, George Brannen; a son, Mike Brannen; her sisters, Lucille Joiner, Alice Allen, Bernice Edenfield, Drake Womack, Frances Findley and Marjorie White; and three brothers, Leon Tucker, Eddie Frank Tucker, Jr., and Charles Tucker.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Tanja Brannen of Titusville, Fla.; Tommy and Lynn Brannen of Statesboro; and Julie Brannen of Statesboro; her grandchildren, Christy and Chris Bond of Patterson; Johnny Brannen, Joe Brannen and Nicole and Jayson Ward, all of Titusville, Fla.; and Matthew Brannen of Nichols, Ga.; two step-grandchildren, Angie Presson of Glennville and Jenny Burch of Clearwater, Fla.; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ted Tucker of San Francisco, Calif.; and James and Marie Tucker of Midway.
The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5 p.m. until
7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Billy Mullis officiating.
Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Tucker, Donald Joiner, Jerry Joiner, Tony Joiner, Tracy Joiner, Hubert Tucker, Shane Stewart and Jappy Stringer.
