Mrs. Ellen Oglesby Murray, age 88, of Sylvania, passed away at her home on July 18, 2018, while in the company of her family.
Ellen was born to the late Edison and Flora Williams Oglesby in 1930 in Screven County. She was employed for 32 years and eventually retired from Piggly Wiggly and then worked as a transportation supervisor at the Screven County Board of Education for 15 years.
She and her husband were longtime members of the First Baptist Church in Sylvania, Ga., where she was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class, and a member of the Cooperville Homemaker Club.
She is survived by her children, Marylin and Tom Calliham of North Augusta, S.C.; and Carey and Lynn Murray of Sylvania, Ga.; grandchildren, Chad Murray and Jean, Christy and Mitchell Sikes, Jennifer and Matt Flanders, all of Sylvania, Ga.; Todd Godbee of Bartow, Ga.; Jessica and Chris Price of Evans, Ga.; and Tiffany and Steven Barksdale of Augusta, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Lovett “Butch” Murray; and her daughter, Linda Murray.
Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Joiner-Anderson Screven Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Joiner-Anderson Screven Chapel with Clint Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Murray, Todd Godbee, Will Price, Chris Price, Ridge Flanders and Dallas Owens.
Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Faith Sunday School Class from the First Baptist Church.
