STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Thaddeus James Morris III, (T.J. “Jim” Morris), age 58, died on Monday, July 23, 2018, at his residence.
The native of Statesboro was a graduate of Statesboro High School. Jim attended Stetson University and later graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s in English.
Jim loved words and was an avid reader and an accomplished writer. Many of his plays were produced and he was often a stage actor himself.
Travel was another love of his. He worked in the travel industry in Seattle, Washington, and Hilton Head, South Carolina. For several years he worked with the data processing center of his family’s business, T.J. Morris Company in Statesboro.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Ann Wilkes Morris of Statesboro; his father and stepmother, Jimmy and Ruth Morris of Asheville, N.C.; his brother, Mark Morris of Chicago, Ill.; a son, David of Washington state; and his stepbrothers, Larry, Walter, Randy and Woody Jameson.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The service will follow the visitation in the chapel with Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia 30459; or the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
