Lewis Albert "Al" Raulerson, Ph.D., of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away on January 23rd after a brief illness.

Born in Okeechobee, Fl, Dr. Raulerson lived in Glyn Ellyn, IL and Statesboro, Ga., before moving to the Monroe Village community in Monroe Township in 2014.

Al was a psychologist and counselor for more than 40 years, primarily at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, where he cared for college students and members of the community.

He attended Florida State University for his Ph.D. degree, where he met the love of his life, Alberta "Bert." They married in 1960 and were inseparable since.

Al served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a warm and funny man. It is no exaggeration to say that everyone who knew Al liked and enjoyed him. He was interested in everyone's story and would listen for hours, especially to his grandchildren.

He liked dogs, cats, oranges, military history, books, long walks, music, singing in the chorus and Georgia Southern football, but he hated bananas.

We are sure that in the part of Heaven where Papa is now, his is surrounded by lots of love and music and no bananas.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alberta L. Raulerson; his daughters, Annie E. Raulerson (Eric Blumenfeld) and Sara R. Jones (Jeff Jones); and his three grandchildren, Anna M. Jones, Matthews L. Jones and Jonah R. Blumenfeld.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2nd, at Monroe Village, Monroe Township., N.J.

A reception will be held afterwards and all are welcome to attend.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lester Memorial Home, 16 West Church Street, Jamesburg, NJ.
